I am new to .net and I am trying to set up on a stand alone PC. I have downloaded the 22Meg .net re distrabutable and the mdac 2.8 from microsoft. Mdac2.8 will not install.
Mdac 2.8 RTM is incompatable with this version of windows. All of it's features are currently part of windows.
So is it telling me it is incompatable or not ?

I'm not sure what your trying to accomplish. Are you trying to work with VWD and .net 2.0? Are you trying to use MDAC for some special type of database issue?
Tell us what your end goal is, so we can troubleshoot your steps.
and if there is an error relating to your version of windows we need to know what that is
