Membership

I am using asp.net for the first time and need some help. I have a simple application and use the asp.net membership controls. When a user logins, he will normally go to the destinationPageUrl in the anonymousTemplate (nothing new). Based on a flag in one of my tables, some users (based on what they have completed) need a different destination page url. The whole membership stuff looks like a closed environment (to a newbie) and I need some advise in how to handle this situation. (I am using vb code behind)

Examples or tutorials would be appreciated.
